| Mac | Archive |
|---|---|
| Apple Silicon | stly-darwin-arm64.tar.gz |
| Intel | stly-darwin-amd64.tar.gz |
Install or update#
- Download the archive for the version you want and
checksums.txtinto the same directory. - Run the command below in that directory. It verifies the checksum and installs stly to
~/.local/bin/stlywithout administrator privileges.
(
set -eu
case "$(uname -m)" in
arm64) package=stly-darwin-arm64 ;;
x86_64) package=stly-darwin-amd64 ;;
*) echo "Unsupported architecture" >&2; exit 1 ;;
esac
test -f "$package.tar.gz"
shasum -a 256 --ignore-missing --check checksums.txt
tar -xzf "$package.tar.gz"
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "$package/stly" 2>/dev/null || true
mkdir -p "$HOME/.local/bin"
install -m 755 "$package/stly" "$HOME/.local/bin/stly"
"$HOME/.local/bin/stly" version
)To update, run the same command with the archive for the new version.
stly is not signed or notarized by Apple, so the command removes the quarantine attribute from files downloaded with a browser using xattr.
Set PATH#
To run it as stly, put ~/.local/bin at the front of your PATH.
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"To apply this to new terminals too, add the same line to your shell configuration file (~/.zprofile for the default macOS zsh).
Check the installation#
stly version
type -a stlyIf the version from stly version differs from the release you installed, use type -a stly to check for duplicate installations and the PATH order.
If you installed stly at /usr/local/bin/stly, you can keep using that path. If you move it, confirm the new executable works before removing the old file.
